Yasaka Shrine

YASAKA SHRINE

Kyoto's most famous festival, the 'Gion Matsuri' is a festival of Yasaka-jinja Shrine. The red gate (Nishi Romon) facing Higashi-Oji Street is impressive and always crowded with visitors. There are many small shrines in the precinct, and you can enjoy viewing cherry blossoms and autumn leaves there.

CHION-IN

CHION-IN

The temple Chion-in is one of the largest temples in Kyoto. The main gate, called 'Sanmon' and hall called 'Mieido' are national treasures. You will be surprised by the wooden Sanmon Gate with its height of about 24 meters and width of about 50 meters. For your information, the Mieido Hall is under restoration until 2019.

SHIRAKAWA

Shirakawa is a small river that flows from Okazaki Park to the Kamo River in the Eastern district of Kyoto City. Cherry blossoms are blooming in spring, the willow on the banks of the river are very beautiful popular with the locals during summer. Since it is less than 2 km long, we recommend you enjoy the scenery while taking a stroll along the river.
